Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today refused to be drawn into the tug of war between his predecessor Anbumani Ramadoss and the AIIMS, but said nobody should be allowed to dilute the supremacy of an institution like the premier health institute in the capital.

"I don't think we should discuss individuals here. I am more interested in healthcare and maintaining the supremacy of institutions," Azad said when asked about the controversy which dogged the previous health minister.

"We should not allow anybody to dilute the supremacy of any institution whether it is the AIIMS or the health ministry. Each should function in its own area and should not try to surpass each other.

"AIIMS is one of the premium institutes and each patient is crying out to get there and be treated. We should not lower the image of AIIMS," Azad said.
