Hearing of bail application of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Pak-born Canadian citizen arrested on terrorist charges, has been postponed by a week.

"At the request of counsel, the Rana hearing before Magistrate Judge Nolan has been re-scheduled from today to November 19," a Department of Justice official said after an order in this regard was passed by a Chicago court yesterday.

Along with David Coleman Headley, his school time friend, Rana was arrested by the FBI last month on charges of planning terrorist attack in Denmark and in India, including the prestigious National Defense College in New Delhi.

Both Headley and Rana are residents of Chicago. The FBI has also recovered inflammatory videos of Al Qaeda which included speeches by Osama bin Laden – the most wanted terrorist of the world.

Rana, in his bail application, had offered a security of nearly a million dollars and said that attack on the facilities of Danish newspaper does not constitute an act of terrorism; which has been contested by the FBI in the court.

The FBI had charged Rana not only of knowing the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) plot to launch terrorist attack against government facilities in India; but also being part of it.

The FBI has submitted transcripts of the email and tapped telephonic conversation of Rana and Headley before the Chicago court. The bail plea of Headley is scheduled to come for hearing before a Chicago court in December.
