Party general secretary Venkaiah Naidu said the United Front was an opportunistic, unnatural Front, committed to kursi, while the 14th party - the Congress - wanted protect its leaders from prosecution in criminal cases. But since protection has now become a judicial impossibility, the Congress will wait for the earliest opportunity to send the ungrateful government of Deve Gowda packing, Naidu said.

Naidu termed the criticism of the government by CPI and CPM as mere political posturing and called upon them to withdraw their ministers from the government. Naidu claimed that the Prime Minister had bypassed home minister Indrajit Gupta in directing the Delhi Police Commissioner to seek a change in venue of the Rao case hearing from the Tis Hazari courts. Congressmen are now taking a tough posture and threatening to review their support to the government merely to shift public attention from Rao, Naidu said.

Opposing the Congress demand for a special Parliament session devoted to discussing the relationship between the judiciary, executive and legislature, the BJP leader said the areas of the three wings of democracy were well defined in the Constitution. There is no transgression, no confusion, he said.

Naidu demanded that the Prime Minister should come out clean on his two-hour meeting with Chief Justice AM Ahmadi before it snowballed into a major controversy.

The Bihar BJP unit has been advised to inquire into the allegations against its MLA Dhruv Bhagat in the fodder scam. If we find even a small trace of evidence against him, action will be taken, the BJP leader said. He did not think the MLA deserved an action by the party just because he was arrested by the CBI.
