Belgian firm to invest Rs 6 cr in floriculture

With the Uttaranchal government deciding to set up a floriculture export zone, a top Belgian firm yesterday said it would invest Rs 6 crore in various projects in the state.
 
During a meeting with Chief Minister N D Tiwari, Diroj Rignald, managing director of Diroj Plants, said his company would set up various projects with an initial investment of Rs six crore.
 
Stating that the environment was conducive for the growth of floriculture sector in Uttaranchal, Rignald told Tiwari that the government should take steps to boost the floriculture sector.
 
Welcoming Rignald, Tiwari said his government has decided to set up a floriculture export zone and had launched efforts to invite foreign investments in the sector. "This will give positive results in the state," Tiwari said.
 
Tiwari also said the government was also trying to increase the income of farmers by giving boost to farming of flowers and medicinal plants.
 
He said the state government was also trying rope in private investments in the floriculture sector and providing employment to youths in the sector.
 
On floriculture export zone, Tiwari said the state government would launch efforts to boost the exports of flowers, fruits and other vegetables in the state.
