BEML to supply six cars to Delhi Metro before Games

Mini Ratna public sector undertaking, Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) would be supplying six cars to Delhi Metro well before the commencement of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) starting in early October, a top company official has said.

"These cars are a part of requirement placed by Delhi Metro Rail authorities with BEML and orders valued at Rs 1000 crore are with company to supply cars," BEML, Chairman Cum Managing Director, V R S Natarajan, told reporters here.

BEML, which is supplying products to various sectors including mining, steel, power, irrigation, construction, road building, aviation among others would also be supplying stainless steel rail coaches to Indian Railways shortly.
       
Fifty-six stainless steel coaches will be rolled out for Electric Multiple Units (EMU) and handed over to railways, Natrajan said however, declining to comment on the zones that would be provided with these coaches.
       
"A Rs 680-crore Aero Space unit has come up in Gadag in Karnataka which will be dedicated by Union Defence Minister A K Antony on Aug 30. It would supply aircraft components to Hindustan Aeronautical Company (HAL) and others," he said.
       
BEML has been growing between 17 to 18 per cent per annum. The PSU under the administrative control of Defence Ministry, has a turnover of Rs 3,553 crore and the target for fiscal year 2010-11 was Rs 4,200 crore and to further Rs 5,000 crore, Natrajan added.
