Bengal govt to meet industry leaders

The West Bengal Finance Ministry has convened an interactive session with prominent industry leaders of the state and outside to showcase the industrial agenda of the new state government.

State Commerce and Industries minister Partha Chatterjee said that prominent industrialists like C K Birla, S K Birla, Sanjiv Goenka, Harsh Neotia, Rajive Kaul and representatives of the Tata group had been invited to attend the meet which would be addressed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday in the city.

Chairmen of ONGC, GAIL and other public sector units had also been invited, Chatterjee told reporters here.

He said that representatives of various chambers of commerce of the city would also be present.

 

The minister said that the meet would primarily aim at sending the government's stand that no land would be taken forcibly without landowners' consent for the purpose of setting up industries.

NRI entrepreneur Prasoon Mukherjee and chairman of Sahara group Subrata Roy are also likely to come, he said.
