Bengal To Set Up Marine Products Processing Zone

West Bengal is setting up a marine products processing zone on the outskirts of Kolkata. Spread over a land of 13 acres, the zone will house 10 export processing units having capacity of 1800 tonne per annum.

The project is being implemented by Benfish, the state government run co-operative in the fisheries sector and funded by National Co-operative Development Council (NCDC) Union ministry of food processing and the state government.

The project cost for infrastructure building has been envisaged at Rs 15 crore with larger share of Rs 8 crore is from NCDC. A part of the NCDC grant would come as loan and be distributed by 10 beneficiaries.
