Bhel Bags Rs 2,079 Crore Ntpc Project

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) has bagged a Rs 2,079-crore contract for executing the 2x500 mw second stage of Rihand Super Thermal Power project in Uttar Pradesh from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

According to a Bhel release, the contract will be executed by mid-2005.

It said the scope of the project related to design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of two-stream generators.

Bhel will also commission turbine generator sets of 500 mw each with associated auxiliaries and control instrumentation system.

The release said the company was aiming to commission the first set in 42 months and the second unit in six months after the completion of the first set.

 

The cumulative generation capacity will touch 2,000 mw at the Rihand project after the completion of the second stage, said the release.
