Bhel Corp R & D Budget At Rs 97 Crore

The Hyderabad-based Research and Development (R&D) division of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received an R&D budget of Rs 97 crore for the current financial year, an increase of 29 per cent over last year's budget of Rs 75 crore.

Of the total budget, Rs 81 crore is meant for revenue related projects, while the rest is allocated to set up two centres of excellence. For the current fiscal, it is aiming a turnover of Rs 12 crore.

Disclosing this here today, S Balagurunathan, the executive director of the R & D Division, said that significant achievements were made during the just concluded fiscal in the areas of design and development of products, systems, processes and software. Many of the developments were tailor-made to meet the specific requirements of user sectors.

 

The year saw the establishment of some unique facilities which aimed at reducing the cycle-time and improving the quality and efficiency of prototypes, he said.

One major achievements of the division was the design, development and supply of a 8 HP Permanent Magnet DC motor to the ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.

It has also received order for two more DC motors from the same centre.
