Bhel Unit Eyes Rs 2,000-Crore Turnover

The Ramachandrapuram (Hyderabad) unit of the public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is aiming a turnover of over Rs 2,000 crore during the current financial year as against a turnover of Rs 1,431 crore for the financial year ended March 31,2003.

The new fiscal started with an order book of Rs 1,870 crore for the unit. Disclosing this at a media conference, A N Jagadeeswaran, the executive director of BHEL, said that the gas turbine business was contributing a good turnover to the Ramachandrapuram ( RC Puram) unit and it held good promise for the future as well.

Jagadeeswaran said that the unit recorded a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 124 crore during the just concluded financial year, an increase of 18 per cent over the previous year's PBT, despite a 6.6 per cent fall in turnover at Rs 1,431 crore.
