Bhopal vendors protest against Reliance Fresh

A large number of vegetable vendors today staged a demonstration against the Reliance Fresh retail outlets here and demanded their closure.

The vendors, who gathered under the banner of the CPI(M), shouted slogans against the retail chain and burnt its effigy.

The protesters alleged that the opening of the retail chain, which sells vegetables and fruits, had adversely affected small vendors and their businesses were on the verge of ruin.

The demonstration against the Reliance Industries-promoted chain in the state capital comes months after similar protests by vendors in Madhya Pradesh's commercial hub of Indore.
