Big Brother

During the Lok Sabha election too, some of them observed the election sitting or rather, sleeping in their rooms in circuit houses.The practice of deputing observers has clearly been effective in putting the fear of Seshan into the local officials and candidates, but it has also led to some making a quick buck by promising errant candidates not to divulge their deeds to the observer for a sum. One observer, a senior IAS officer, who observed the election in one of the UP constituencies from Delhi for some time, is all praise for the practice. The message clearly is: Big Brother is watching you, even though he might actually be sleeping!
