The Uttarakhand government has cleared the five-star hotel project of ace shooter Abhinav Bindra, as part of his gift for winning a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

“We have given clearance to the five-star hotel project of Abhinav Bindra,” said Chief Secretary I K Pande. And now, the government has asked Abhinav’s father A S Bindra, to submit the map and other plans to the Mussoorie-Dehra Dun Development Authority (MDDA), the nodal agency for the development of Dehra Dun city.

Bindras had last year submitted a proposal to the government for setting up a five-star hotel at their 9-acre farmhouse in the state. The five-star hotel is also considered to be a gift from A S Bindra to celebrate the heroic achievement of his son.

Bindra’s father runs the High-Tech Group of Companies, where his son Abhinav is one of the directors.

An investment of Rs 150 crore-Rs 200 crore is proposed in the new venture. Through this project, the company will also enter the hospitality business for the first time.

Sources said top banks like ICICI Bank have evinced interest in funding the hotel venture of the Bindras.

Interestingly, Abhinav was born at the Kalhan hospital in Dehra Dun, where he also studied in different schools.

He also got his initial training at the farmhouse, where his father constructed a shooting range for him.
