Bird flu in Tripura, WB: Govt

The central government today reported outbreak of bird flu in Tripura and West Bengal.

While culling operations have started in West Bengal, the central rapid response team has reached Tripura to start containment operations today, according to a  statement released by the ministry of health and family welfare.

The ministry has maintained that there is no suspected case of human avian influenza. "The situation is being monitored," the release added.

The latest outbreak in Tripura comes after authorities completed the culling of more than four million birds in West Bengal and 100,000 birds in the neighboring state of Bihar.
