BIS conducts raids in six states

As part of a major drive against the sale of spurious products in the market, Bureau of Indian Standards recently conducted raids in various parts of Assam, Daman, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
 
A total of 14 raids were carried out in these states against manufacturing/trading units that were using ISI mark without a valid licence, according to a BIS release. Two raids were conducted in Pune at Success Enterprise where instantaneous water heaters under 'recold' brand and spurious ISI marks were seized.
 
In the raid at Vardha Industries, Mumbai, pin plugs and switches were seized under 'arecona' brand. In Daman, BIS, along with police, raided Sidhi Polymer where feeding bottles under 'poopcee & topcee' brands were seized.
 
Three raids were conducted in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, while one raid each was conducted in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
 
Five raids were conducted in Assam out of which four were in the state capital, Guwahati.
 
Four raids were conducted in Guwahati at Tirupati Hardware where glass patty under 'Shalimar' brand was seized, Kamrup Hardware where plywood under 'Standard Gold' and spurious ISI mark was seized, Bharat Glass where flush doors under 'Oxford' brand were seized, and Ganesh Hardware stores where glass patty under 'Shalimar & Diamond' brands were seized.
 
In another raid on Khaitan Udyog, Athgaon, plywood with spurious ISI mark was seized under 'Maruti ply & Diamond' brand.
 
The two raids in Visakhapatnam were carried against Sindhur Electricals and Multi Star Electricals. In the third raid in Andhra Pradesh, cables under 'Vishal, Gold Star and Laser' brands were seized at Arihant Electricals.
 
In Coimbatore, packaged drinking water under 'Art' brand and spurious ISI mark was seized.
 
At Ghaziabad, a raid was conducted at Super Shakti Industries where spurious ISI-marked pressure cookers under 'Ojas', 'Prime Gold' and 'Bajaj Classic' brands were seized.
