As the BJP gets into the campaign mode for the Assembly polls in Gujarat, spin doctors in the party have come up with a two-word slogan to identify the BJP and its chief ministerial candidate Narendra Modi with the state.

The slogan is: "Jeetega Gujarat", or Gujarat will win. The idea behind it, according to those overseeing the campaign, is that victory for the BJP and Modi be seen as a victory for Gujarat.

"All campaign material will feature this two-word slogan prominently," said a senior party leader. Since posters are frowned upon by the Election Commission, the slogans will be splashed on stickers and advertisements on all TV channels in the state.

The main thrust of the campaign will be ideology, leadership and performance of the incumbent. Modi's strict image will also be used, with a smaller slogan saying that "na khata hoon na khane doonga" (neither do I take bribes nor will I allow it).

"Central leaders will only be campaigning after November 25, once the last day of withdrawal of nominations is over," said the senior leader.

"Also strict instructions have been given out that only photographs of Modi, LK Advani and party president Rajnath Singh along with the candidate will be allowed on posters in specific constituencies," added the leader.

In Himachal Pradesh, the slogan is longer and dwells on the various scandals of the Congress-led Virbhadra Singh government. The royal Singh will be lampooned in the BJP slogans.

"Ghamandi Raja, Bhrasht Rani, Rangile mantri, bas yahi kahaani" which means "an arrogant king, a corrupt queen, debauched ministers, this is the story."
