The Bhartiya Janata Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party, sharing power in Uttar Pradesh, yesterday struck a divergent note for the first time on the issue of expansion of the one-week old ministry headed by Chief Minister Mayawati.
While Mayawati ruled out further expansion of the BSP-BJP ministry after 40 more ministers were inducted yesterday, the BJP said there was still a case for increasing the strength of the ministry to make it more regionally balanced.
The Chief Minister said both the parties are satisfied with the size of the ministry in which due representation had been given to all sections of the society but president of state unit of the BJP, Rajnath Singh said there is still scope to induct more ministers to remove regional imbalance.
Singh said his party would urge the Chief Minister tor expand the ministry .
