BJP chief Nitin Gadkari will arrive here on Tuesday to take stock of the situation in the wake of the party’s first-ever government in the south being rocked by land scam allegations. He will go through a day-long schedule assessing the status of affairs of the party and its government which has been hit by allegations of corruption surrounding Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and some of his ministerial colleagues.
On his second visit to the state, he will hold a meeting of state unit office bearers, ministers and legislators. BJP sources said Gadkari would elicit views from office bearers, legislators and ministers’ about the state unit affairs and suggestions to boost the image of the government which has taken a beating following the allegations.
Gadkari will also discuss strategies to be adopted for the upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat polls in the state and ways to improve administration.
Sources indicated that Gadkari might seek ministers and legislators opinion, besides that of party leaders on the working of Yeddyurappa.
According to sources, Dharmendra Pradhan, the newly-appointed in-charge of Karnataka affairs, will also accompany BJP chief in the meetings scheduled at a private resort.
Gadkari was here during August to persuade Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, who had quit protesting government’s inaction on his report on illegal mining, to withdraw his resignation. Hegde later withdrew his resignation following BJP senior leader L K Advani’s request.
