The BJP will launch an investor helpline, a dedicated telephone number and an email address on September 3 to help small investors — who number more than 100 million — in the Indian stock markets.

According to Arun Kumar, the convenor of the cell, “The objective is to provide information and suggestions by experts on issues related to banking, share market, real estate, insurance, MFs, etc.”

“On 2nd and 4th Friday of every month, a panel of experts and BJP office-bearers will be available between 3pm and 5pm for various advisory services and constructive suggestions,” he said. Kumar said the initiative was born out of a feeling that small investors were frustrated, confused and facing a series of difficulties under the UPA regime.

“The stock market index, which was 21,000, points has tumbled to 14,000 points. At present, a large number of small investors have lost their hard-earned money,” he said.
