Condemning the shoe hurling incident, BJP today said Congress should take lesson from it and withdraw its anti-Sikh riot accused candidates from the Lok Sabha elections.

"We condemn the incident. It is unfortunate but this is an occasion for Congress to take lesson," Party spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh told reporters.

The saffron party suggested to its rival Congress to reconsider the candidature of anti-sikh riot accused Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler, who are contesting the Lok Sabha elections on Congress tickets from South Delhi and North East, respectively.

"We would like to suggest that the Congress should withdraw Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler from the fray. If it respects the sentiments of Sikh community," Singh said.

The party, however, maintained that the act was an expression of the sentiments of the Sikh community.

Jarnail Singh of a Hindi daily hurled a shoe at Chidambaram protesting against CBI's clean chit to senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler accused in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

Chidambaram was addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters.
