"The government lacks sincerity in finding a solution to the problem of rising prices. It is blaming everyone except themselves for the whole situation," party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

Why is the Prime Minister "shying away" from calling a meeting of the chief ministers for consultation? Why is it doing a flip-flop on this demand, he asked.

Alleging government of having a "cold-blooded and ruthless attitude" towards the situation of rising prices of essential commodities for common man, Rudy said,"the situation would result in the funeral of Congress in the Karnataka elections and a countdown to its rule at the Centre has already begun".

He charged Finance Minster P Chidambaram in being "insensitive" by saying that the present "rise in the rate of inflation is insignificant".

The party said that the government has been caught "helpless" after executing some "faulty small time measure" to control inflation. "Instead of accepting their faulty measures and inability the government is now playing a soothsayer in predicting that the situation would come under control in some time in future," Rudy said.
