The BJP Government in Karnataka would celebrate completion of two-years in office by organising a "sadhaneya samavesha" (achievements conference) in Bangalore on June 25, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said here today.
Speaking at the two-day state-level executive meeting of the party, which commenced here, he said an exhibition showcasing programmes implemented by the government would be displayed at the conference. He asked partymen to "popularise" the development activities undertaken by his government among the people.
The recently concluded Global Investors Meet (GIM), which succeeded in attracting investment proposals exceeding Rs 4 lakh crore, would largely benefit parts of North Karnataka region, he said. Yeddyurappa termed as a ‘malicicous campaign’ by opposition parties that the government was acquiring fertile lands of farmers for allotment to industries.
“Only barren lands are being taken,” he said. The meeting is being held to finalise the party's strategy for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat polls.
State unit BJP president K S Eswarappa alleged that the UPA government at the Centre was taking a 'step motherly treatment to Karnataka on various issues'.
He charged that the Centre did not provide adequate electricity supply when the state reeled under energy crisis and went ahead with setting up of a tribunal to adjudicate sharing of Mahadayi waters ignoring pleas by Karnataka to permit it to take up Kalasa-Bandori Nala drinking water project to provide drinking water to parched areas of Hubli-Dharwad. The Centre accepted the contention raised by Goa, he charged.
