Except ‘Operation Kamala’, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not achieved any progress through misleading claims and promises, three Janata Dal legislators criticised in Mysore today.

Reacting to the claims made by district incharge minister S A Ramadas over the last three years’ progress under several schemes in Mysore city and district, the three MLAs dubbed his statement ‘misleading’. They, on the other hand, listed the state government’s failures on a number of development programmes and schemes in the district, including Mysore city.

At a press conference earlier, Ramadas had listed the district’s achievements with figures of money sanctioned, released and spent under various programmes and schemes, including the Centrally-funded Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Reconstruction Mission (JNNURM), over the last three years.

Countering his claims, Hunsur MLA S Chikkamadu, K R Nagar MLA S R Mahesh and MLC Sandesh Nagaraj of Mysore charged that Ramadas had listed the figures provided by officials while the actual implementation was far less than that.

“The very same Ramadas had boycotted the programmes of ministers Shoba Karandlaje and Suresh Kumar when they were in charge of Mysore district. He did not allow them to function. Now, none of the officials are co-operating with him, it looks like he is reaping the benefits of his earlier actions,” remarked Sandesh Nagaraj.

“A series of corruption scandals are the only achievement of the BJP in the last three years. Worshipping in temples in the middle of the night in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere and seeking excuse from people for his failures are the only two things the chief minister is doing, while the development works are totally neglected,” charged Chikkamadu.

“The BJP has failed to meet the expectations of the people. None of the special programmes have been implemented,” criticised Mahesh. All the three legsilators ridiculed the recent announcement of Ramadas of “Nimma Mane” programme in enrolling children for schools in the district, police visiting houses for the purpose. “When the police strength is totally inadequate to protect law and order, how can they have time to visit houses every day and ensure enrolement of school children,” they wondered criticising such announcements of the district minister lacked practicality.

Pointing out several failures in the city and district, they said the pace of road works at major points in the city like on the KRS, Nazarbad and Karanji Kere roads was so slow they had turned into hazardous places to the public since two years. Though the Chief Minister was announcing Rs 100 crore every year, not even a rupee had been released.

Not even a single site or house had been released for the poor in the district. On the other hand, their life had become miserable with the Government failing to announce its sand policy and causing sand price to escalate from Rs 15 to Rs 35-40 per cubic ft., they charged.

The JD(S) leaders strongly opposed proposed toll on the eight-year-old Mysore-Bangalore road.
