A group of women BJP activists today staged a demonstration outside Parliament to protest the delay in the passage of Women's Reservation Bill and against leaders opposed to the historic legislation.

Over 20 activists under the aegis of BJP Mahila Morcha converged at the Parliament Gate near Vijay Chowk and blocked traffic for some time.

Police immediately swung into action and detained them. They were taken to Parliament Street police station, a senior police official said.

The protestors were raising slogans against the government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Some MPs alleged that they were blocked from entering Parliament House.

Reacting to the protest, RJD chief and one of the strongest opponent of the Bill, Lalu Prasad said, "See, they are even blocking MPs from entering Parliament."

The bill was yesterday moved in Rajya Sabha for consideration amid unprecedented pandemonium with some SP members even trying to attack Chairman Hamid Ansari.
