The BJP has come out strongly on the side of the Tibetans protesting against the Chinese rule in Tibet even as it took a few shots at its political rivals, the Left parties.

At the BJP's parliamentary party meeting, leader of Opposition LK Advani reportedly said the Indian government's treatment of the Dalai Lama as a political untouchable was wrong.

Advani also attacked the Left parties saying the events in Tibet should come as no surprise to whoever is familiar with the way Leftist regimes react to dissidence.

"Wherever Marxists and communists have come to power, the opposition has been crushed brutally, whether it is Tibet, Russia, Nandigram or Kannur," he said.
