Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M Venkaiah Naidu asserted that a single party rule in the country was impossible in near future.

“There was no other option than a coalition government at the Centre following the role of regional parties in the state and a single party rule was impossible in near future in India,” Naidu told reporters here today afternoon.

The statement of Naidu contends All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad’s assertion in Bangaluru yesterday that single party rule was necessary to preserve the unity of the country.

“It is only the BJP that can run a successful coalition government as the Congress has failed to keep the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) ‘united’,” Naidu said, adding that the Manmohan Singh government would be the last Congress government at the Centre.

The Congress party has lost its credibility, Naidu said, and the party would be left all alone after the election as no ally would join the alliance. Even in Maharashtra, there is every possibility that Sharad Pawar will walk out of alliance as he is a strong aspirant for the post of Prime Minister.

Naidu compared the third front as parking lot. “The parties are coming to the front; and walking out after completing their job as one does by parking his car in the lot and driving away after doing the job,” the BJP leader explained.
