The state unit of BJP today urged the Tatas to rethink its decision to suspend work at the Nano plant and urged the West Bengal government to immediately sit for dialogue with an "open mind" with Trinamool Congress to solve the impasse at Singur.

"The BJP wants the government to come to a quick settlement for the betterment of the people of West Bengal and Tata to continue with Nano factory at Singur," a press release issued by the party here said.

The party said the state government should sit for talks with an "open mind" with TC chief Mamata Banerjee and the Tatas and sort out the issue today itself to save both agriculture and industry in the state.

The party said the suspension of construction and commissioning work at Nano plant proved to be a total failure of the state government in balancing agriculture and industry.

"Firstly the government has acquired land forcefully from unwilling farmers and did not pay them desired compensation. They even forced the Tata plant in Singur to close down the day CITU observed bandh and stopped movement of trucks on the Durgapur Expressway which exposed the dual policy of the CPI(M) and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee," it said.
