Welcoming the Supreme Court order asking the UP government to revoke NSA against Varun Gandhi, BJP today said invocation of this provision was an act of vendetta on the part of BSP and the Congress.
"We welcome the decision which only underlines the fact that invocation of NSA was an act of vendetta by the Uttar Pradesh government," BJP spokesperson Balbir Punj told PTI.
He said since the union government had endorsed this decision it implied that the "dirty tricks departments of BSP and the Congress were working together".
The apex court today directed the Uttar Pradesh government to withdraw forthwith charges under the National Security Act against the BJP leader which were imposed for his alleged hate speeches.
