The BJP has won the Vidisha Lok Sabha and Bada Malhara assembly seats. Uma Bharti's Bhartiya Janshakti Party failed to open its account.

Public Health Engineering Minister Rampal Singh defeated Congress' Rajshri Singh by over 85,000 votes to win the Vidisha seat, vacated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The byelection to Bada Malhara assembly seat, vacated by Bharti, proved to be tough for the BJP but its candidate Kapoorchand Ghuvara recorded a win over BJS candidate Rekha Yadav by over 4,300 votes.

This despite Bharti camping in the constituency and functioning as Rekha Yadav's poll agent.
