Black Tiger Shrimp Gets Better Price

Seafood exporters have increased the purchase price of black tiger cultured shrimp by Rs 50 per kg to attract the farmers towards single weighment system.

Seafood exporters are strictly implementing the single weighment system from June 15 to avoid the quality deterioration.

Usually, middle men have been purchasing the black tiger shrimp from the farmers at the tanks itself, and then they used to sell this material to seafood exporters in villages, who in turn shift them to processing plants.

In this multi point handling and weighment system, the quality of black tiger shrimp declines, and the exporters get less prices in the international market. Sometimes shrimp containers get rejected.

In the new system, the shrimp farmers can take the stock directly to the processing plants without any middle men interference. To attract the farmers to this new system, the exporters are Rs 50 extra per kg.
