US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher is scheduled to arrive here today to hold talks with the country's political leadership to take forward the investigations into the Mumbai terror strikes and ease tensions between India and Pakistan.

Boucher is scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. Boucher's visit to Islamabad follows a series of visits by US diplomats to the country to ease the tensions between India and Pakistan over the Mumbai terror strikes. In December, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Joint Chief of Staff Mike Mullen and other officials visited Pakistan and urged it to cooperate with India in the investigations into the Mumbai terror attacks.
