India needs to launch a massive sales campaign to promote 'Brand India' in Russia, a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) report on trade relations between the two countries has said.

The paper, released on the eve of the visit of Russian Prime Minister Victor Zubkov, states that some Russian consumers feel Indian products are not of good quality.

According to CII, in 1991, Russia's share in India's total trade was more than 9 per cent. Currently, it stands at a meagre 1.06 per cent. This pales in comparison with China, which is Russia's fourth-largest trade partner.

According to CII, achieving the targeted $10 billion bilateral trade by 2010 will require at least 50 per cent annual growth in the next two years compared to the existing average level of about 20 per cent.
