PSU telecom company BSNL's majority employees and workers are going on strike tomorrow to oppose VRS and other demands.

Joint Action Committee officials said despite the strike, employees will keep emergency telecom services running.

JAC convenor Animesh Mitra said BSNL has forwarded a VRS plan to Department of Telecom for funds from the government.

"Almost 90 per cent of the BSNL strength will go for strike. INTUC backed union which is not with us, will also not oppose the strike," he said.

Calcutta Telephones CGM S Maity said "We have taken all steps to ensure uninterrupted services".

He has urged the striking unions to allow willing employees to enter premises and allow them to work.
