In a renewed bid to resolve the Singur crisis, the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee today invited Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee for talks, six days ahead of her party's plan to lay siege to the Tata Motors' small car plant.
In his letter to Banerjee, Bhattacharjee stressed the importance of the project in the state.
"I am extending the invitation to reach an acceptable solution to the issue through discussion," the Chief Minister said in the letter adding, both he and the Industry Minister is willing for a talk with either Banerjee or any representative deputed by her.
Acknowledging receipt of the letter, the Trinamool supremo, however, stuck to her decision of going ahead with the agitation unless 400 acre of land was returned to the "unwilling farmers".
"Without return of the land there will be no talks," Banerjee said.
