Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today termed the Budget as an attempt by the UPA government at the Centre to divert attention of people from issues like corruption and inflation.

"There seems to be no political will to provide relief to public from the skyrocketing food prices, particularly the urban middle class," Modi said.

The Budget has shown favours to poll-bound states like West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, he said adding, "the Budget has exposed Union government favouring states governed by its allies at Centre."

"Instead of increasing agricultural production, which is essential for an agrarian economy, the government is increasing subsidies," Modi said.
