The MoU, signed by the two sides in February, provides for cooperation in areas of benchmarking railway policy and regulation development, exchange of knowledge and technical expertise, freight operations in colder regions and tilting coaches.
The rail ministry has signed pacts with multiple nations that allow technical cooperation in the railways sector with focus on high speed corridors, raising speed on existing routes, development of world-class stations, heavy haul operations and modernization of rail infrastructure.
"The cooperation is achieved through exchange of information on developments in areas of railways technology and operations, knowledge sharing, technical visits, training and seminars and workshops in areas of mutual interest," said an official statement.
It added the MoUs provide a platform for Indian Railways to share the latest developments in the railway sector and facilitate exchange of technical experts, reports and documents. They also provide for training and seminars focusing on specific technology areas.
