Cabinet puts off decisions on real estate regulator among other proposals

Proposals were deferred as Chidambaram was not there at the Cabinet meeting

Indivjal Dhasmana New Delhi
The Cabinet today deferred decisions on a host of proposals since Finance Minister P Chidambaram was away in Tokyo.

It put off proposals on clearing a bill to set up a real estate regulator, rationalising non-urea fertilizer subsidies, dismantling levy sugar mechanism and hiking dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners.

Those in know of the development said the proposals were deferred as Chidambaram was not there at the Cabinet meeting.

He has gone to Tokyo to woo investors there.
