The government today approved the transfer of 450 square metres of defence land in the southern part of the capital to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

The transfer of defence land, approved by the Union Cabinet, will facilitate construction of Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor in Phase-II, Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters.

He said the corridor is to be taken up for early implementation so as to commission it before the Commonwealth Games next year.
