The debate on disinvestment in the Lok Sabha today took a dramatic turn when Congress member PR Dasmunshi quoted from a note purportedly written by Cabinet Secretary TR Prasad to the Prime Minister opposing Air-India divestment.
The government, however, was swift to react by terming the note forged and announced a CBI probe into the matter. Just as Dasmunshi finished his speech and handed over the note to disinvestment minister Arun Shourie, the latter sent it to the Cabinet Secretary for his comments. Prasad denied that he had written any such note to the Prime Minister.
