CAG criticises AERB over policy gaps

Inspite of a mandate to prepare a nuclear and radiation safety policy, the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has failed to do so and there are lapses in regulating radiation facilities in the country, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India said in its report on Wednesday. It points out that around 91 per cent of the medical X-ray facilities in the country do not fall under the control of the regulatory board as they had not been registered with it.
