Canada may open visa office in Mumbai

Canada may open a visa office in Mumbai to cater to the needs of the Indian community, a move likely to boost trade ties with India.

Highly placed sources said that the visa office in Mumbai would be functional before the end of this year.

Indo-Canadian community led by Hemant Shah, Chairman, India Chapter of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce has been demanding for more than two decades that a visa office in Mumbai should be opened to boost business ties between the two countries.

Many countries, including the US and Britain already have visa offices in Mumbai.
