"The sole aim is to reduce the difference in the property tax between the city and suburbs," Minister of State for Urban Development Rajesh Tope informed the Legislative Council today.
The new Bill would introduce capital-based system for calculation of taxes instead of current rateable system, Tope said.
The draft for the new system is ready and it would be discussed in the House soon. The Joint Select Committee has proposed few suggestions in the draft which include tax calculation system, fine collection, per centage of tax etc, the Minister added.
The issue about the property tax was raised by Congress MLC Charan Singh Sapra during question hour.
