India's carpets exports grew 14.3% year-on-year to about $90 million in July this year, on account of rising demand in markets like the US, China and Latin America.
In July 2012, these exports stood at $78.41 million, according to the data provided by the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC).
"The demand for carpets is rising in emerging markets like Latin America, Africa and China, besides American market," a CEPC official said.

However, he said, the demand in the European market is yet to pick up.
The US and European markets account for over 60% of the country's total carpets exports.
The categories that registered maximum growth in July are handmade synthetic carpets which grew about 32%, followed by handmade silk carpets 26%, handmade woollen tufted carpets 22% and handmade woollen tufted carpets 10%.
During April-July 2013, carpets exports jumped 13.25% to $371.71 million compared to the same period last fiscal.
In 2012-13, carpets exports crossed the $1 billion mark. The sector employs over 1 million people.
