A criminal case has been registered against a JD(S) MLA for allegedly getting some culprits in a police station released.
Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer M N Vidyashankar told reporters here that some culprits had been apprehended and lodged at the Tumkur station. He said the complaint is that the Chikkanayakanahalli MLA Suresh Babbu got the culprits released from the station, an act which is against law. Whether the police sub-inspector, who released the culprits is impartial or not, is being looked into, he said.
He said criminal cases have also been booked against three BJP men in Shimoga in connection with a 'Tamils-only meeting' where this linguistic community was solicited for votes without, however, uttering the word ‘vote’ in the entire proceedings. On Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa's alleged inflammatory speech, Vidyashankar said the report has been sent to the EC.
