The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has filed the third charge sheet in the disproportionate assets case of Kadapa member of Parliament Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, seized the bank accounts of his Jagati Publications and Indira Television that publishes Telugu daily Saakshi and runs a television channel of the same name.

The CBI sent a circular to this effect on Tuesday to the State Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce, where the two outfits, floated by Jagan, as Reddy is popularly known, have their accounts. On Monday, a CBI court had summoned Jagan and 12 others to appear before it on May 28 in connection with the case.

The CBI seems to be tightening the noose around Jagan's neck as the by elections to 18 assembly constituencies and one parliamentary constituency in the state are nearing.

The byelections, slated for June 12, are being held due to the disqualification of the Congress members of legislative assembly, who had voted against the Congress government in the state when the opposition Telugu Desam Party moved a no-confidence motion in the assembly.
