CBI raids Mayawati's houses, offices

 Enraged by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids at her houses and offices in Delhi and Lucknow, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has accused Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of using the investigative agency to settle political scores.

 Yesterday was a bad day for Mayawati as hundreds of CBI sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at various places in Lucknow and Delhi. Though CBI officials remained tight-lipped about the recovery, the agency claimed to have seized significant documents about investments.

 However, CBI sources said raids were conducted in deference to the Supreme Court
