CBI takes over Koda cases

Inordinate delay in completing the investigation into the multi-crore money laundering scam involving former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and his cabinet colleagues by the State Vigilance Bureau, Income Tax Department (IT) and Enforcement Directorate (ED), had led to the Jharkhand government to write to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the cases for investigation.

Governor’s adviser V. S. Dubey told media that after imposition of President’s Rule in Jharkhand, the state government had written a letter to the CBI to know its readiness to take up the cases.

According to official source CBI has agreed to investigate the cases. It may be mentioned that the former cabinet headed by Shibu Soren had turned down the proposal for a CBI probe into Koda’s multi-crore scam on the grounds that the state Vigilance Bureau.

 

IT and Enforcement Directorate were competent enough to investigate the cases against Koda and his cabinet colleagues.
