Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Kanshi Ram yesterday alleged that the CBI had become a political tool and had been working under directions of successive prime ministers from P V Narasimha Rao to I K Gujral.

Morality had no place in Indian politics, he said and added former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, who resigned on moral grounds after being chargesheeted in the hawala case, was now repenting.

His party was running the government with the BJP in Uttar Pradesh under compulsion and had no ideological understanding with its alliance partner, Kanshi Ram said.

Asked about a mid-term poll in the country in near future, he said it all depends on Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav.

He declined comment on Yadavs alleged involvement in the Rs 950-crore fodder scam.

Kanshi Ram said the BSP was concentrating on Himachal to ensure that no political party could from government in the state without its support.
