The objective of the scheme is to arrest drop out rates at the level of class eight and encourage students of economically weaker sections to continue studies up to class 12 for students from economically weaker sections.
Each year one lakh scholarships of Rs 6,000 per annum would be awarded from class 9 till class 12.
Only students whose parental income from all sources is not more than 1.50 lakh will be eligible. The beneficiaries would be selected through a test.
