The Rs 1,100 crore agriculture export promotion scheme will continue in the 12th five-year plan (2012-13 to 2016-17).
The decision to extend the Agriculture Export Promotion Plan Scheme of the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today.
The proposal was mooted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with four elements under the scheme. These include infrastructure development, transport assistance, market development and quality development .

The Cabinet was also to take a call on relaxing the foreign direct investment (FDI) in real estate and pharmaceuticals as well as India's position in the upcoming World Trade Organisation. However, the proposals were deferred as commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma had to leave for the United Kingdom for personal reasons.
